🟢 Level B1 (Intermediate)
Focus: Daily use of devices, common internet tasks, and basic tech problems.
1. Phrasal Verbs (B1)
Back up: To make a copy of information on your computer or phone.
Example: Always back up your photos so you don't lose them if you break your phone.
Go online: To connect to the internet.
Example: I need to go online to check the train schedules.
Set up: To prepare a new device or software for use.
Example: Can you help me set up my new smart TV?
Shut down: To turn off a computer or system completely.
Example: Remember to shut down your laptop at the end of the day.
2. Idioms & Expressions (B1)
User-friendly: Something that is easy to use and understand.
Example: This new app is very user-friendly; even my grandpa can use it.
A silver bullet: A simple solution to a complicated problem (often used to say tech isn't one).
Example: Technology is great, but it's not a silver bullet for all our problems.
High-tech: Using the most advanced and modern technology.
Example: They have a very high-tech security system in their office.
3. Essential Nouns (B1)
Device / Gadget: A small tool or machine that does a specific job (like a phone or tablet).
Example: My favorite gadget is my noise-canceling headphones.
App (Application): A program designed to do a particular job on a mobile device.
Example: I use a language app to practice my English every morning.
Password: A secret word or phrase used to access a computer or website.
Example: You should never share your bank password with anyone.
Update: A new version of a piece of software or an app.
Example: I need to install the latest system update on my phone.
4. Adjectives (B1)
Wireless: Using radio waves instead of wires to send information.
Example: I prefer wireless mice because they make my desk look cleaner.
Automatic: Doing something without needing a person to control it.
Example: This camera has an automatic focus feature.
Smart: Used to describe devices that connect to the internet (Smartwatch, Smart home).
Example: I have a smart light that I can control with my phone.
🔵 Level B2 (Upper-Intermediate)
Focus: AI impact, digital trends, and more technical descriptions.
1. Phrasal Verbs (B2)
Roll out: To officially introduce a new product or service to the public.
Example: The company is going to roll out the new AI feature next month.
Catch on: To become popular or fashionable.
Example: At first, no one liked foldable phones, but now they are starting to catch on.
Hook up: To connect a piece of equipment to another or to a power supply.
Example: I’ll hook up the laptop to the projector for the presentation.
Hack into: To get into someone's computer system without permission.
Example: Someone tried to hack into the company's database last night.
2. Idioms & Collocations (B2)
Cutting edge: The most modern and advanced stage of development.
Example: This company is at the cutting edge of robot technology.
On the same wavelength: Thinking in the same way or having the same ideas.
Example: My boss and I are on the same wavelength regarding the new digital strategy.
Reinvent the wheel: To waste time trying to create something that already exists.
Example: Don't reinvent the wheel; there are already many apps that do exactly this.
3. Nouns (B2)
Algorithm: A set of rules a computer follows to solve a problem or make a decision.
Example: The YouTube algorithm always recommends videos that I like.
Bandwidth: The capacity for transmitting data over an internet connection.
Example: We don't have enough bandwidth to have five people in video calls at once.
Interface: The way a computer program or device presents itself to the user.
Example: The app has a very clean and modern interface.
Innovation: A new idea, method, or product.
Example: Technological innovation is changing the way we work.
4. Adjectives (B2)
Intuitive: Easy to use without needing a lot of explanation or practice.
Example: The software is so intuitive that I didn't even need to read the manual.
Obsolete: No longer used because something newer and better exists.
Example: CD players have become almost completely obsolete.
Scalable: Something that can grow or be made larger if needed.
Example: We need a scalable business model that works for 10 or 10,000 users.
Ubiquitous: Found everywhere.
Example: Artificial Intelligence is becoming ubiquitous in modern industry.
5. Verbs (B2)
Integrate: To combine two or more things to make them work together.
Example: We want to integrate AI into our customer service department.
Encrypt: To change data into a code so that no one else can read it.
Example: Your messages are encrypted, so they are safe from hackers.
Simulate: To create a model or a copy of a real situation (often on a computer).
Example: This software can simulate how the weather will change next week.
Debug: To find and fix mistakes (bugs) in a computer program.
Example: The developers spent weeks trying to debug the new game.
