EOI B1/B2 Mediación. Model 3: Summarising from Spanish to English .

Updated: Dec 27, 2025

🏛️ EOI WRITTEN MEDIATION TASK – LEVEL B1 & B2

🖥️ TOPIC: Working in an Office or Working from Home

Context: Your friend Lisa from Ireland has been offered two job options in Spain — one working in an office, and the other from home. She’s read two short Spanish articles about both work styles, but she doesn’t understand Spanish very well. You’ve read them and now need to explain the main ideas and give her your advice.

🕐 Write between 70–90 words (B1) or 90–110 words (B2).💡 Don’t translate word-for-word — summarise the ideas and add your opinion naturally.

Texto 1 – Teletrabajo: flexibilidad y comodidad

✉️ TASK

Write an email to Lisa, summarising the main points of both texts and giving your personal opinion about which option seems better.

💬 MODEL ANSWER (B1 – 88 words)

Hi Lisa, I’ve read about both options. Working from home is very flexible and helps you save time and money. You can organise your schedule and spend more time with your family. But sometimes it’s hard to separate work and personal life, and it can feel lonely. Office work is more social, and you can talk easily with your colleagues, but commuting every day can be tiring. I think a mix of both would be ideal — some days at home and some in the office.

💬 MODEL ANSWER (B2 – 106 words)

Hi Lisa, both options have their pros and cons. Working from home gives you freedom, comfort, and better time management. It’s perfect if you’re disciplined, but it can also be isolating and make it harder to switch off from work. Office work, on the other hand, provides structure and social contact. You can share ideas, learn from others, and feel part of a team, though commuting can be stressful. In my opinion, the best solution is a hybrid system — combining flexibility with teamwork. It keeps motivation high and allows a healthy work-life balance.
