EOI B1&B2 Module 8 Reading. Tips & Practice

⚡ Strategic Breakdown: Blockbusters & Media

📖 Part 1: Detailed Reading (Paraphrasing)

  • The Synonym Rule: Notice in Question 1 how the text says "simultaneously across hundreds of screens," and the answer says "wide, simultaneous release." This is a classic B2 paraphrase.

  • Algorithmic Logic: In Question 2, the word "binge-worthy" in the text is key to matching with "focus on content that keeps viewers watching."

🧠 Part 2: Multiple Choice Cloze (Collocations)

  • Fixed Idioms: "Word of mouth" (Gap 5) is an essential idiom for B1-B2.

  • Precision: We capture interest or attention; we don't just "take" it in a professional media context.

✍️ Part 3 & 4: Grammar & Word Shifts

  • Contrast Linkers: "In spite of" is always followed by a noun or "-ing." If there's a gap before "spite," it is always In.

  • Negative Prefixes: In Part 4, "misleading" is the trick. If the result is "disappointment," the trailer was not just leading; it was misleading.

🔄 Part 5: The B2 Grammar Toolkit

  • The "Wish" Regret: Question 5 tests WISH + Past Perfect for a past regret.

  • Passive Continuous: Question 2 ("is being filmed") is the star item for the B2 level.

🧩 Part 6: Cohesion & Narrative Flow

  • The Reference Link: In Gap (2), the text mentions "glowing reviews." The sentence G starts with "This positive word of mouth," which refers directly to the reviews.
