All human beings are equal under human rights laws. Since judges are persons and not machines, are not court judgments subjective? To start with, it is hugely important to bring focus to the fact that our court system is supposed to be fair, no matter who is judged. Yet, A question that arises is whether this is fulfilled. Many cases of wealthy people judged leave the fact that money or fame are good companions to cope with justice. As all that glitters is not gold, our Justice system has its failures. A good example of that is the case of the Spanish Monarchy. Not for a moment did we think that Juan Carlos de Borbón, the father of the actual king, could have left the country without being doomed or judged. This incident, added to the court decision to send Urdangarín to a super-duper jail for a funny and unfair period, had made Spanish people frown upon Monarchy and Justice. According to the latest research of El país newspaper published last April, almost 75% of Spanish people assured that money talks concerning court decisions. The survey also showed the disappointment of the people regarding the system. As they regret, real justice cannot be taken for granted, whereas political parties are inside the system. Indeed, we can never assure fair court rulings unless politicians exit the system. To top it all off, the truth is that there is a rotten 1pple that needs to be reviewed if we want to keep on the belief that we are all equal under the law. |
